How To Change A Social Security Address
The Social Security Administration issues Social Security numbers for American citizens, permanent residents and certain categories of alien workers. For the majority of Americans, their parent’s address became their default address at birth. For anyone else who applies for a SSN, the address on their application becomes the address of record. You keep your SSN forever regardless of how often you move or change jobs.
Normally, you won’t need to inform the SSA of any address change until you start to receive Social Security benefits or become eligible to enroll in Medicare. When the need arises, make your Social Security address change online or in person, depending on your preferences and current location.

When Should I File A Medicare Change Of Address
Whenever you need health care as a Medicare beneficiary, your health-care provider, hospital, or medical supplier will ask to see your Medicare card to verify your benefits. If your card gets lost or stolen, its important to have a current address on file with the Social Security Administration so you can get a replacement Medicare card as quickly as possible.
If you know your address is about to change, you can file a Medicare change of address as soon as you have an address and effective date. Even if you file a change of address form with the post office, its still a good idea to complete a Medicare change of address with Social Security to prevent any delays in receiving important notices and information related to your benefits.

How To Request A Social Security Card Replacement
If all you need is a replacement Social Security card, with no other changes, you can simply request a new card online at the Social Security website. You’ll need to be a U.S. citizen age 18 or older with a U.S. mailing address and will have to supply information from a drivers license or state-issued identification card from a participating state or the District of Columbia.
Currently, every state but Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, and West Virginia participates in this program. If you’re from Alaska, Delaware, and Wisconsin, note that Social Security will only accept a driver’s license.
This service is not yet available to people whose drivers license or identification card was issued by a U.S. territory, such as Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Note that a new Social Security card can also be requested by filling out the application and returning it via mail to dropping it off at the local Social Security Administration office. Or applicants can go to the local Social Security Administration office and fill out an application there.

Account Step Three: Create Username And Password
Once you verify your identity, youll create a username and password. Its important to note that the passwords need to be at least 8 characters, have an uppercase and lowercase letter, a number, a symbol and must begin with a letter or number.
I recommend writing down the password or storing it in a password manager. Youll need the password again if you have to update your address or direct deposit account in the future.
Create your user name and password using my Social Securitys requirements.
At this step in the process, youll also be asked to create three security questions. If you forget your password, you can use these questions to reset your password.
