Alternate Us Mailing Address
Various SSA personnel, including those from the Federal Benefits Unit , say the U.S. address is not part of the verification process but is the place to which SSA sends the confirmation of the information that one has inputted online and an activation code to finish setting up the account. They say that one can use the U.S. address of a family member, or other person you trust, who can then relay the activation code to you received from SSA in the mail.
You should set up your alternate mailing address with a relative or friend in advance, so that you can enter this information when you first make your online application.
Requesting An Activation Code
You need an activation code in order to register.
If your license is due for renewal, you will be sent a renewal notice by the Board. The renewal notice contains your account activation code needed to register for this website.
If your license is not in the renewal period, you may use the online Activation Request System to request an activation code. After you identify yourself as a fully licensed physician, the Board will generate an account activation code letter. This code will be sent to your mailing address on file with the Board.
An asterisk next to a field means information must be entered.
To request an Activation Code online
Using your browser, go to the BORIM Online Renewal website at www.mass.gov/massmedboard/renewals.
Enter the following information:
Your Massachusetts license number
The last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
If you would like to receive your activation code via email, enter your email address. Otherwise, you will receive your activation code via postal mail.
Re-enter your email address.
For security purposes, enter the code displayed in the image.
You will receive your account activation code in 2-3 business days. If you have any questions, please call the Support Hotline at 876-8230.
After you receive your Activation code, you can register to use the system.
Protecting Your Benefits From Swindlers
The SSA offers secure sign-in via Login.gov and optional extra protection to guard against identity theft. Scammers who obtain your Social Security number and address through phishing, data breaches or other means can go online and set up a My Social Security account in your name, if you havent already done so.
The threat grows once you reach age 62, the minimum claiming age for Social Security retirement benefits. Thieves could start collecting monthly payments in your name, and you might not find out about it until years later when you apply for Social Security. Only one account is permitted per Social Security number, so establishing your account early is key.
People need to plant their flag, because someone could just sign up for you, cybersecurity expert Brian Krebs, who runs the Krebs on Security website, told AARP in 2018.
Krebs said that in Social Security identity theft cases hes seen, the victims ultimately had to visit a Social Security office to resolve the problems.
Kenneth Terrell covers employment, age discrimination, work and jobs, careers, and Congress for AARP. He previously worked for the Education Writers Association and U.S. News & World Report, where he reported on government and politics, business, education, science and technology, and lifestyle news.
Lost Your Social Security Card Heres How To Request A New One
If youve lost your Social Security card, the Social Security Administration provides a fast, online resource to request a new card for most states throughout the country. The online resource can be found here and is available in all states except Alaska, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and West Virginia.
In order to receive a new social security card, you will need to be 18 years of age or older, not be requesting a name change or any other change to the card, and have a valid drivers license or state-issued identification card for the state you live in.
In Delaware and Wisconsin, this service is only available if you have a drivers license.
You will need to sign up with a MySocialSecurity account. The SSA does state that in many cases, even with a lost card you may not need a replacement. In most cases they say, simply knowing your SSN will be enough. You may need to provide your card to a new employer, so if youre in the job market, now may be a good time to cross this off your list.
If you want to request a replacement, heres how.
Log on to the SSA site here and create a new account
You will need to input some personal information including your home address, social security number and upload a photo of your state-issued ID.
My Account For Individuals
You will have to complete two steps.
Step 1 Provide personal information
- Enter your social insurance number.
- Enter your date of birth.
- Enter your current postal code or ZIP code.
- Enter an amount you entered on one of your income tax and benefit returns. Have a copy of your returns handy. To register, a return for one of these two years must have been filed and assessed.
- Create a CRA user ID and password.
- Create your security questions and answers. You can also decide if you want a persistent cookie added to your computer, so you can access CRA sign-in services using that same computer later without being asked for more identification.
After you complete step one of the registration process, you will have access to limited tax information on My Account. After you enter your CRA security code, you will have access to the full suite of services available in My Account, as well as the Auto-fill my return service.
Step 2 Enter the CRA security code
To access your account, return to My Account for Individuals, select “CRA sign in,” and enter your CRA user ID and password. When prompted, enter your CRA security code.
You can sign into CRA sign-in services with a Sign-in Partner. This option lets you sign in with a user ID and password that you may already have, such as for online banking. For more information, see Sign-in Partners Help and FAQs.

How Can I Detect A Phishing Email Pretending To Be Social Security
- Most emails from Social Security will come from a .gov” email address. If an email address does not end in .gov, use caution before opening attachments or clicking on pictures or links in the email. Currently, Social Security sends emails from ,, , , and echosign.com.
- In a few instances, we use marketing firms to raise awareness of Social Securitys online services, and this includes creating amySocial Security account. We allow these firms to send email directly to individuals. Any links you find within these emails should always point to a .gov/ web address.
- Links, logos, or pictures in the body of an official Social Security email will always direct you to an official Social Security website. Rather than relying on the way a link looks, please follow these steps to confirm a links authenticity:

If You Want Extra Security
We offer you the choice to add extra security when you create an online account. In the past, we told you Social Security would never ask for your credit card number or other financial information. We have changed our policy for this one service. Now, we may ask you for the last eight digits of your Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit card, or some other financial information. Once you give us this additional information, we will send you a letter in the mail in five to 10 business days. You will need this letter to complete the voluntary process to add extra security.
You can upgrade to extra security at any time. Adding extra security does not change the way that you sign in to your account. You must still sign in with your username, password, and a unique security code we will provide each time you sign in.
I Want To Change My Password But I Cannot Find Or See The Last Cra Sign In Page
If you have ticked the box entitled “Do not show me this page again today” when you signed in today, the “Last CRA sign in” page will be hidden for the rest of the day. This means that the manage and view options, such as change your password, will only be available to you after midnight Eastern Time.
If you do not select “Do not show me this page again today”, this page will be displayed to you each time you sign in.

Why do I need a My Social Security account?
There are a few reasons why you are going to want a special account called My Social Security, and the first is obvious – Managing your Social Security benefits. You will need a My Social Security account to apply for Social Security benefits when the time comes . Not Receiving Social Security Administration Authentication Code How To Use E
Some, but not all, RW phones stopped receiving the Two Factor Authentication codes required to sign onto individual mySocialSecurity accounts during early November, 2019. When trying to access your account at ssa.gov/myaccount the code required to complete signon is not received as a text message. The SSA page implies that a code may also be received via email, but: the only way to add email as an authentication channel is by requesting a new account activation code sent to your snail mail address, in 5-10 business days. Yes, SSA has your email and is sending notices to that email, but to get logged onto MySocialSecurity will take waiting for an account reset code via postal mail.
I am running into this additional certification process in a couple of other places and I can not log in due to system not recognizing my phone number. I am told they do not accept VOIP phone numbers. These additional problems have me considering leaving RW. Not sure that I want to deal with creating Google Voice or whatever as a workaround. I am simple and I like simple things just working. It becomes frustrating.
just went thru this myself when trying to apply for retirement benefits from SSA, it is EXTREMELY frustrating but it only took 3.5 weeks from request to reactivation letter arriving! I dropped my RW cell # from the authentication not worth my time to hassle with it even though my other government accounts work fine using RW cell text authentication.
