Is Social Security Open On Saturday

Don't Miss

Ssi Disability Payment Schedule

SECOND Stimulus Update!! SSI SSDI VA SOCIAL SECURITY – SATURDAY!!!

Your SSI benefits are paid on the first day of each month. If the first is on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, your benefits will be paid on the banking day before. For example, if the first is a Sunday, you should receive your check the Friday before . The SSA recommends calling the agency at 800-772-1213 if you have not received your check or deposit by the fourth banking day of the month. SSI recipients are now required to receive their payments through direct deposit, the Direct Express® card program, or through an Electronic Transfer Account.

When will you receive your first SSI check? In a disability survey we asked our readers to take, over half of SSI recipients said it took three to seven weeks to receive their first SSI check .

Get The Most Out Of Your Social Security Office

If you plan to use one of the 1,172 local Social Security offices in the USA when it comes time to file for your benefits or ask a question, think again.

You’re likely to get faster service by signing up for My Social Security and setting up an account, or calling the Social Security Administration’s 800 telephone number service.

Why? Well, in recent years, Uncle Sam has closed local SSA offices, reduced hours of service, and stopped mailing the annual earnings statement. And now, managers of local Social Security offices are reporting increased wait times, crowded lobbies and limited appointment availability, according to a recent audit of the SSA.

Consider:

From July 2011 to November 2013, average wait times at field offices more than doubled, from 14.4 minutes to 30.5 minutes.

Fewer hours led to longer lines, sometimes out the field-office doors. “At times, visitors waited outside in the rain,” the report says.

Reduced hours limited the time available for appointments. Some clients waited two months.

Others share that point of view. “With the increased number of Boomers hitting ‘a certain age’ and with cutbacks in government, the two have collided,” says Jim Blankenship, a certified financial planner and enrolled agent with Blankenship Financial Planning in New Berlin, Ill.

Be efficient.

Ssdi Disability Payment Schedule

If you started receiving SSDI benefits after 1997, the date you receive your payment depends on your birthday.

  • If your birthday is on the 1st 10th of a month, your SSDI checks or direct deposit will arrive on the second Wednesday of every month.
  • If your birthday is on the 11th 20th of a month, your SSDI checks or direct deposit will arrive on the third Wednesday of every month.
  • If your birthday is on the 21st 31st of a month, your SSDI checks or direct deposit will arrive on the fourth Wednesday of every month.

If you started receiving benefits before 1997, you will receive your payments on the third day of the month, no matter when your birthday is. If the third is on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, your benefits will be paid on the banking day before. In some circumstance, if you are still receiving SSDI benefits on the third of the month, you can change your payment date. However, you cannot choose any day of the month you want for your new payment date. Your birth date will determine what day your benefits will arrive, based on the same list above.

Keep in mind that Social Security now wants all SSDI recipients to sign up to receive their payments through direct deposit, the Direct Express® card program, or through an Electronic Transfer Account.

Coronavirus Is Closing Social Security Offices Heres How To Get Benefit Help

The Social Security Administration has more than 1,200 offices that serve thousands of beneficiaries every day.

The Social Security Administration operates a vast network of more than 1,200 offices around the country that help thousands of Americans every day with applications for retirement, disability and Medicare benefits.

    No more.

Starting Tuesday, Social Securitys field office network will be closed to the public in most situations until further notice because of the coronavirus public health crisis, administration officials said. Offices that hear disability insurance appeals also are closed.

Service will continue to be available via the agencys toll-free line, 772-1213, and its website. Payments to more than 69 million Social Security beneficiaries are not affected.

Social Security announced late on Monday afternoon that field offices would be closed, with most employees working from home. That means most routine services helping with benefit claims, checking the status of an application or appeal or requesting a replacement Social Security card will be handled only through the agencys toll-free line and website.

The decision to close offices came after several days of withering criticism from the unions that represent Social Security employees. The unions argued that keeping the offices open was a threat to the publics health and that of the agencys work force of 61,000.

Current Social Security leadership has been skeptical of remote work arrangements.

Midstate Woman Seeks Help From Abc27 After Numerous Closed Doors At Social Security

HARRISBURG, Pa. The state lifted its COVID restrictions earlier this week, but what about the federal government? A viewer wanted an in-person meeting at Social Security only to find its offices closed.

She first took it to Social Security in Carlisle. Theres a great big sign on the door that says closed for COVID, Tricarico said. Next stop, Harrisburg. Again, doors locked, signs on the doors, no lights on, Tricarico said.

So Margaret called the 800 number. The woman said that form needs to be hand-delivered. I said, I understand that but your offices are still closed. When are your offices opening? she said I dont know,’ Tricarico said.

Abc27 contacted Social Securtiy, which sent a statement. It said We have been and remain open for business but said citizens should access services online or by phone, adding that In-person appointments are for limited, critical situations.

My mother is gonna be 90-years-old. My mother is not very computer savvy, Tricarico said. There still has to be a physical location to go to for these people to interact with someone.

I think the federal administration should be open, Tricarico said. The Social Security Administration is supposed to be there for those who have needs. I dont see them open.
